Why not try a Gingerbread House kit this Christmas?

Growing up on of my favorite Christmas traditions was the gingerbread house. My Aunt Kate had the same gingerbread house out every year and it was so tempting to have a nibble. Of course I could not eat it, it was a favorite christmas decoration for the whole family. My aunt had spent ages working on getting it just right and amazing to my childs mind.

This non-edible gingerbread house sparked at tradition of making edible ones, so I would not be such a nuisance I expect. If you have ever tried to make your own gingerbread house, as a kid or with your kids you probably know how difficult it is to make a good looking gingerbread house.

My gingerbread houses were always yummy but looked like they should be condemned as houses! Ever seen a dilapidated house that is ready to collapse on itself? Now imagine it is made of candy and you have just about every gingerbread house I made as a kid! Our frosting never seemed to hold the walls together or keep the candy decorations stuck to the house. I did not mind as a kids because I tended to eat the sweets more then actually commit to creating something to rival my aunts creation.

Now that I have grown up I know that I can display the self control to use the candy and sweets to actually build something wonderful, instead of just eating it! When I found that there were actually kits we can buy to give us a hand making wonderful Christmas Gingerbread Houses I was over the moon and thought everyone should know about it!

I for one think that these kits will make it so much easier to start up this tradition from my childhood with my own kids. I sadly have not managed to start my family yet, my husband and I are trying and we are very hopeful. I do have a niece and nephew and am really just a big kid myself so I will be perfecting my skills at crafting a lovely gingerbread house now. I am going to be a master at constructing gingerbread houses to wow the eyes and the taste buds! Why not give it a try yourself this Christmas?
