Wii Fit works and it's fun

If you are looking for cutting edge fitness then the Wii fit games are for you. The games are totally fun too. My first time trying one out was at a party, and it was a hoot. A close friend of mine had been using the wii fit board for her personal fitness and wanted us part guests to have a try on it. A couple of minutes doing to hula hoop game and the next day my core muscles in my tummy were sore! Of course there were lots of laughs and cheers when I got the hang of the game.

For a game like the hula hoop game the movements that keep your hula hoop going are exaggerated and this works your muscles more then you might expect. This is what makes the games such a good source of fitness.

The second game I tried was the ski jump game. This game seems to focus on the muscles responsible for balance and was where I got the most cheers. I managed to pull off a great ski jump! I should mention that I have never done any skiing in my life.

These were the games I liked the look of and was happy to try at this party but there are loads of other games, chances are there will be one that grabs your attention. If you are serious about losing weight and getting fit these games keep track of your weight and time spent working out. It is almost as if you have your own trainer in the game that helps you keep track of how you are doing.

If fitness using video games just is not your cup of tea then please continue reading because there are more fun ways to get fit to come.

Dance your way to fitness

Dance is a great way to get fit. Dancing will give your body a total work out. The great thing about dance is that there are so many different styles of dance and music that there is something that can appeal to most everyone.

One style of dance that I really enjoy and find great for toning my tummy is belly dancing. I guess it is common for women like myself to want a firm belly and to find it difficult to achieve. With belly dancing you use and strengthen your core belly muscles and I doubt you can find a belly dancer anywhere with a flabby belly!

Belly dancing is just one option. With modern dance being used by most pop musicians there is a huge selection of music workout DVD's out there to choose from. What makes this music so popular is that it is easy to dance to. Kids, especially girls (it seems) love learning how to dance and will gravitate toward trendy pop music because of its rhythm energy. This music is not just for kids and can be a great way to get pumped up and learn to dance and get fit to for just about anyone. If you are a mom and want to impress the heck out of your kids learning the dance moves of the latest popular bands is likely to do the job nicely.

There are even music work out DVD's that use music that might just bring you back to the days when you were a kid learning to dance with your friends. The Dirty Dancing DVD is a prime example for me. Growing up my girl friends and I made up several dance routines to just about every song from that movie. I am sure my husband would groan if I put that one on while he is at home but thats because he was never a pre-teen girl!

All of these music work outs are really just an update on the sweatin' to the oldies work outs that originally came out from Richard Simmons. Regardless of which era of music you enjoy most using music dance fitness videos is a great way to get fit, learn to dance and just have lots of fun

  • The Benefits of a Regular Exercise Program

New Year's resolutions aside, we would do well to put in at least some little effort into improving our general level of fitness. At this time of year though, especially after so many of us have made a commitment to our physical well-being, perhaps we need to focus on what we could hope to reap in terms of our reward for such diligence. - 2 years ago

Hi Kirsten. My brother uses Wii to keep in shape and has a lot of fun with it. I'm a complete nerd at dancing but I agree with you that belly dancing has been a great invention. I'm happy you joined the hubmob.

Nicely done. I think the simulated skiing is the way for me and often for the southeast. I need to write a hub about my experience in "ice skiing". Instead of "snow skiing" a lot of eastern skiing is "ice skiing".
