Arnica Tablets and Pills for Homeopathic Healing
72Arnica Tablets
Arnica Tablets are a recent discovery of mine. I just love any sort of homeopathic remedy that can aid in healing, especially when it can be used along side any treatments given by my doctor.
Arnica tablets from both Nelsons and Biron tablets use the Arnica plant. Arnica is a pernnial plant native to the mountains of Europe and Siberia as well as mountainous areas of Canada and North America.
Arnica tablets are most often used in treating injuries that involve bruising, swelling and inflammation as well as playing a part in pain relief. Other uses involve soothing muscle aches, especially related to exercise.
Arnica Montana
Arnica montana is the botanical name for this plant. Common names include, arnica flowers, arnica root, Leopard's bane and Wolf's Bane. This history of use for this plant has placed the flowering heads in homeopathic medicine for hundreds of years and has been used to treat a whole host of conditions.
Arnica is known to contain the anti-inflammatory "sesquiterpene lactone helanalin" and accounts for the aid it can provide to injuries that involve some sort of blunt trauma. The external uses for Arnica can include pain relief and acting as a local antibiotic and is used in creams for dislocations, sprains, bruises and prevents the blood platelets from gathering to the site of the injury.
Arnica for healing a foot injury
How I came to discover this form of natural healing or homeopathic healing was through my mother in law.
Last summer we were camping with my niece and nephew and my mother in law. One of the days we had had some bad rain and a weather warning was issued for over night. With all the adults trying to tie everything down my niece managed to fall into a puddle of mud the size of lake erie.
She was taken to the showers to clean her shoes and then sent back to camp to change into something clean and dry. She never made it. The older girls at the camp saw her all muddy from head to toe and started cheering her, so of course she stopped to play, with no shoes on and all muddy.
There was a tree with a swing and the older girls were pushing her on the swing. Sadly she went right into the tree at full pelt and smacked her foot against the tree very badly. I carried her back to camp and was worried that we were going to have to take her to the hospital with a storm closing in.
My mother in law examined the foot as she knows a lot more about medicine (working in a retirement hotel she is very knowledgable) as well as knowing the kids better then I. She started giving my niece Arnica pills and a gel to apply topically.
I figured we may well still have to go to the hospital the next day if there was no sign of improvement and to be honest I did not expect there to be. The foot had been badly damaged and was both swollen and hot to the touch. Thank goodness by the next day my little niece's foot was not longer hot to the touch. It was still swollen and my niece was unable to walk but there was a good sign of healing in the foot not being so hot to the touch.
By the next day the foot was no longer visibly swollen but my niece could still not walk on it without complaining of pain. We spent the day at camp (the two of us, while my nephew was taken out to keep him entertained, too young to entertain himself) and by the end of the day my niece was able to put her weight on the foot to stand. I still would not let her try walking around even tho she really wanted to and I could not carry her everywhere!
One more day and my niece was walking without complaining of pain. We had had an instructor scheduled to take the kids rock climbing and were scared to let her rock climb. She was instant that she wanted to try at least, if the walk started hurting she would not try but she wanted the chance.
I tell you what, within a few days she went from having a hot and swollen foot that I thought might have been broke, to being able to climb with only a twinge of pain here and there!
I know kids can heal fast and all that but, it really did seem that the Arnica pills and gel contributed to a faster heal time, even for a kid. I have since researched Arnica Montana from Nelsons in this country and Boiron in the states (those seem to be the popular brands for each country) and have been very impressed with what I have seen.
The next time I suffer an injury that involves a blunt trauma to any part of my body I intend on trying these out right away! I also am eager to learn about other remedies out there from these brands and what claims they make in regards to healing, it is probably worth trying if needed!

Yes, Arnica is a very curative plant. The Ute tribe of Colorado and Utah used the oils of this plant to relieve the pain of rheumatism--so too the Shoshone tribe in the mountains of Wyoming. I'm glad your niece's foot was helped with Arnica!
Arnica is the one homeopathic remedy that we always have in the house. We keep arnica in our first aid kit as well that is in our car, so that when we are out and about, it is handy. Nice hub, rated up.
Always love learning about new natural remedies. This is one I was not familiar with. Thanks for sharing and Congrats again on your 100th hub. :) Rating up!
How odd. I mean really.... Yesterday, my husband was playing an on line video game, and someone had chosen their screen name to be Eyam. I thought to myself..weird...Ive only just learned about that place, and of course I thought of you. I was on my way into the bathroom and somehow, even though I have lived in this house for 9 years now, failed to navigate the doorway. I sat on the couch with some frozen peas on my knee, and thought to myself..oh man, I need more Arnica!! It was introduced to me, by my mother in law, some years ago when my eldest was learning to ride her bike without training wheels. Where I live, very few people know about Arnica. I did not know it came in tablets. Thanks for the info!!
cool. I know my kids detest all medicines. Ill have to look int to it. Thanks again. :)
sure...no problem. I was thinking about me trying them tho. ;)
Thx for share....some good info. I wonder if you can crush the pills and make a topical paste of it.This dose sound like something that I need to keep handy because I have tendonitis....good share
